Dr. Kenneth Anderson Celebrates 25 Years In Practice

On February 2, 1985 Dr. Kenneth Anderson, Family Practice and Internal Medicine Physician, came to Lebanon to begin his medical practice.  For 25 years Dr. Anderson has served the local community.  He has served in numerous medical leadership capacities - such as the former chief of the medical staff at University Medical Center (UMC) - and dedicated his life to helping people.  Dr. Anderson believes strongly that doctors exist for one reason, to help people and his dedication to the medical profession has never waivered.

Many things have changed over the last 25 years; but, one aspect about Dr. Anderson’s practice that hasn’t can be boiled down to a few simple rules – or, in the case of Dr. Kenneth Anderson, the Golden Rule.  Dr. Anderson has found success operating under a simple and basic concept: treat patients the way you’d want to be treated yourself.  Without question, it has worked.

According to Vince Cherry, UMC CEO, “Dr. Anderson’s dedication to his patients exceeds expectations.  He is recognized as one of the most respected physicians among his peers, hospital leadership and staff at UMC.  His dedication to duty is commendable and his quite leadership is highly valued.   University Medical Center and the entire community are fortunate to have such a fine physician.  On behalf of UMC, we congratulate Dr. Anderson on his 25th anniversary.”

As Dr. Anderson grew up in Maury County, he decided he wanted to help people, in part because of the genuine concern that his family doctor always showed.  He also was inspired in his college years by the compassion of a physician at the hospital where he worked as an orderly during summers, Dr. Thomas Dake.  After medical school at the University of Tennessee in Memphis and residency training in Huntsville, Ala., and at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, Dr. Anderson came to Lebanon and was associated with Dr. Stephen Snyder.

In the years that have passed since then, Dr. Anderson has tried to uphold the principles of trust and integrity that led him to his chosen profession.  Taking the time to care about patients and making sure they feel at ease remain an important part of his practice.  Treating them the way he would want to be treated has allowed Dr. Anderson to be the kind of doctor that his role models were.  It has also made friends of his longtime patients, and given him an even greater sense of satisfaction in helping them overcome illness.

Dr. Anderson continues to see his patients in his original office location, 417 Harding Drive, in Lebanon.  He enjoys the fact that no two days are alike in his line of work, and he looks forward to the variety that comes with welcoming new patients.  No matter how much diversity exists among his cases, though, his patients all get the same ‘golden’ treatment.

After all, Dr. Anderson says, with the scores of people that have been kind to him since he started practicing in Lebanon 25 years ago, he’s not just treating people the way he’d want to be treated – he’s returning some of the kindness that was truly extended to him.
