Diagnostic Imaging Department

64-Slice CT Imaging

UMC has a GE 64-slice, state-of-the-art, CT imaging system. This unrivaled image quality provides remarkable speed that can produce detailed pictures of any organ in a few seconds and provide sharp, clear, three-dimensional images, including 3-D views of the blood vessels, in an instant. UMC's GE 64-slice CT scanner delivers high-speed, high-resolution images, which allows physicians to capture precise images of any area of the body, including the rapidly moving heart and lungs, which frequently appear blurry when scanned by a traditional CT scanner. This fast scanning capability allows important diagnostic information concerning the heart to be obtained within a single breath-hold as short as 5 seconds, and a full body scan (in search of a blood clot, for example, that has become a source of emboli) in 13 seconds.

Ultrasound

University Medical Center offers patients advanced high definition ultrasound system. The HD11 XE ultrasound system from Philips Medical Systems provides multiple scanning configurations to support their broad patient imaging needs. 3D and 4D ultrasound offers incredibly detailed images.

MRI

Our Phillips 1.5 Tesla MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is an imaging tool with a large magnet that uses radio waves and a computer to make detailed cross-sectional pictures of the body. The results are 2 and 3 dimensional "slices" or scans through a body part showing body tissues or vessels. MRI uses no x-ray radiation and is considered harmless. MRI scans are able to detect or show better detail of some conditions when compared with regular x-rays. Our Phillips 1.5 Tesla MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is an imaging tool with a large magnet that uses radio waves and a computer to make detailed cross-sectional pictures of the body.
